Sharing a review for Breakaway
Just saw this today! Thank you to Marika from Night Owl Reviews for reading and reviewing Breakaway!

4 3/4 STARS

"I love hockey and I really felt like I was there, experiencing everything that Remi and Jason were experiencing."
"The chemistry between Jason and Remi is off the charts. I was expecting the sex to be numerous and graphic, well, it’s more loving, touching and real. You can feel the emotions, feel the touches, taste the kisses and see the tears...I highly recommend Breakaway to any reader that wants a loving, touching and emotional rich story between two opposites that realize what they want and need in their lives is the complete opposite of what they thought they wanted or needed."
TGIF!!
Yay it's Friday! I have a review to share from The Romance Studio, for Power Struggle. I got this while I was away on vacation last week and it made me SO happy! (Speaking of my vacation, I posted a little about it and some superawesome photos taken by my husband over at Nine Naughty Novelists today).

The Romance Studio gave Power Struggle 5 HEARTS!

"Power Struggle is a story that sizzles with its intense sensuality, deep-seated passion and extremely emotional pull that packs a powerful punch...a richly detailed story that is brimming over with sexual tension, intoxicating desires and intriguing carnal needs that is edgy and psychologically intense. The bold, daring and compelling plotline teases and engages reader's hearts and mind for a superb way to spend a few entertaining hours. The characters display a great depth of personality, moral fiber, emotion as well as attraction and readers will feel and believe Tori and Dev's passionate adventures... Kudos to author Kelly Jamieson for another fantastic winner!"
Review for Lost and Found!
My wonderful Samhain editor Tera Kleinfelter alerted me to this review today for Lost and Found, from Joyfully Reviewed:

"Lost and Found stayed with me for hours after I finished reading. Nate and Krissa just worked for me and I wanted their happy ever after in the worst way! Kelly Jamieson now has a permanent place on my keeper shelf and I can’t wait to see what she writes next."

Thank you to reviewer Talia at Joyfully Reviewed!
Distasteful dialogue
I've been really blessed to have had so many great reviews for my books over the past few months - lots of "5"s and so many great comments. But last week I got a couple of reviews that were just okay.

And that's okay. We all know this business is subjective and not everyone will like everything I write. I've heard all the advice from other authors about having a thick skin and ignoring the bad reviews unless you can learn from them.

So normally I wouldn't even comment about them (and just to be clear, these aren't BAD reviews - they were both 3 1/2 stars) but one reviewer did make a comment about my book Irish Sex Fairy that stuck in my head and made me  have another look at my story. She said  "There were a few times during the explicit sex scenes where I found the dialogue slightly distasteful..."

Distasteful?

Distasteful, according to Dictionary.com means "unpleasant, offensive, or causing dislike".

I don't know why that particular word bothers me so much. I fully know that many of my books would definitely be "distasteful" to some people who don't want to read explicit sex scenes or stories about threesomes or BDSM. So I reread every sex scene in Irish Sex Fairy, trying to see where she was coming from, keeping in mind she'd said it was the dialogue that was distasteful. Not the things they were doing. Because yes, they do have sex, and yes it's pretty hot - and yet it wasn't that she found distasteful - it was what they were saying.

But of course, it's subjective...right? Because I don't see any of the dialogue as unpleasant or offensive. Certainly no more offensive there than in any other point in the story. But she did.

I just have to get over it, it's just one more lesson on how everyone sees things differently. But..but..wait! Not everyone likes my stories? Really? Oh my god! And I'm distasteful...no, wait, my dialogue was distasteful, not me...it's hard to separate my writing from myself.  I clearly still have a lot of toughening up to do.
And the reviews just keep coming!
Here's the latest: Just Erotic Romance Reviews Newsletter gave RIGGER 4.5 STARS -

"I was very pleasantly surprised at the depth of the plot and the very real relationship issues these two had to deal with…The supporting characters… felt believable and meaningfully contributed to the overall plot…I very much enjoyed all the rope bondage scenes as they were well-written and built up the sexual tension… Ms. Jamieson is rapidly becoming one of my favorite authors. Pick up Rigger and you’ll see why."

Thank you to Laura Scott of Just Erotic Romance Reviews!

I think I should go write another book now. :-)

This was so nice to get the week that 2 Hot 2 Handle is out!

Whipped Cream Erotic Reviews gave Love Me More 4 CHERRIES:

"...the work is well written and flows at a super-fast pace. You’ll melt during the intense sexual scenes, while you nod in understanding and sympathy when Gavin and Melina have the ever important lovers spat. If you’re looking for something hot and intense that will leave you with a smile on your face, Love Me More is certain to hit the spot."

Thanks Fern from Whipped Cream for reading and reviewing my book!

AND!!

2 HOT 2 HANDLE is #1 on the bestseller list at My Bookstore and More!
Make it 8!!

Eight reviews in the month of January! Wow! I don't know why this happened but I am overwhelmed. And since they've all been good reviews, right now I feel like my heart is going to explode!

The latest is 5 HEARTS from Shannon at The Romance Studio

"Ms. Jamieson has created an absolutely amazing story that quickly captures the reader's attention with its fascinating, complex and delicious exploration into a relationship built around an alternative lifestyle of pleasure and pain... Rigger is a unique and powerfully sensual story…There is a degree of edginess, sexiness and out-and-out erotic heat from every sizzling and passionate sexual scene … I am totally intrigued by this very talented author can't wait to read more from her."

Thank you so so much!
Aaaaand...I got 2 more reviews!
I just have to say, I am blown away by the reviews I've been getting lately! This just rocks my little world.

Night Owl Reviews gave RIGGER 5 stars and a TOP PICK!

"While I don’t always appreciate all the aspects of BDSM, I do appreciate a good love story and this is a good one... What came across was the special relationship between Alek and Shaela and how it was evolving into something new and different. As they explored each other and their limits, you could appreciate the journey they were taking. I thoroughly enjoyed this best friends to lovers story. Excellent job."

and...

Joyfully Reviewed says:

"I...wasn’t able to stop reading the book once I started because I liked each character so much and wanted to see how events would turn out with them. Of course, it would be remiss of me to write about a book called Irish Sex Fairy without mentioning, well, the sex. Ms. Jamieson certainly knows how to heat up the page, blending eroticism with tenderness in ways that made me sigh and – if I may be honest – envy Keara.

Irish Sex Fairy is everything its title suggests and more. It’s warm, sexy, and fun...I absolutely loved Irish Sex Fairy and will definitely be reading more of Ms. Jamieson’s work!"
Sick of reviews?
Gotta laugh, but I got two more!

This one's for Irish Sex Fairy from Alternative-Read.com:

Fraught with tension at the beginning...This is full of the complexities of life, joy, humor, and a woman who has to decide whether or not "they" win. I liked the premise the author worked with in this and can see a sequel possibility. This one is good for a night by the fire.

And another one for Sexpresso Night - 5 STARS from Just Erotic Romance Reviews newsletter:

“I loved everything about Sexpresso Night and to my surprise actually learned quite a bit more about coffee…Ms. Jamieson does a wonderful job showing their building emotions and pacing this story perfectly. The sex scenes were incredible, well-written and detailed…. Sexpresso Night is a story I will definitely be rereading and I will be on the lookout for other books by this author.”
Another review!

Can I just say, WOW! I am riding a run of good reviews lately! This one's for Rigger, from Romance Junkies:

5 BLUE RIBBONS!

"RIGGER is an emotional roller coaster that you won’t want to leave. Heat rises from the pages every time Shaela and Alek are together. You won’t want to miss this hot story. "

Yay!

A review for Sexpresso Night!

Just got a great review from Night Owl Reviews for Sexpresso Night!
4 1/4 Stars! (I've never seen 1/4 star before but I'm not gonna turn it down!)

Here's what they had to say:

"Ms. Jamison has done it again…. there is a lot of emotion torn between the pages…If you are a fan of Ms. Jamison you won't be disappointed, if you've never read this author before, I encourage you to pick this short story up to whet your appetite for more."

And I love this part with the "coffee" reference: "I was very jealous of Danya when she picked a man who knows how to make his coffee! He is the perfect blend."
LOL! Love the coffee reference, and he is the perfect blend for Danya!
A review for Rigger!

Seriously Reviewed rated Rigger: Story: 9 Presentation: 9

"Oh my hell, this book was impossible to put down. Alek has all the wonderful qualities we love in a hotter than hell hero. He’s sexy and yummy, and has a deliciously naughty streak that made my heart pound and my panties damp.

Yep, this is a perfect example of erotic romance, because while the sex is scorching and just remembering while I’m writing this review is making me hot again, this is also a wonderful friends to lovers stories...This truly was a hot story to read that satisfied on all levels."

I am so thrilled! This means a lot to me, because this is exactly what I want my writing to be - hot and steamy but still a satisfying story. Thank you Se

A review and a trailer...
I got a great review this week for FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS - Whipped Cream Erotic Romance Reviews: Friends With Benefits by Kelly Jamieson - 5 CHERRIES!! I'm so thrilled!

And today I made my first book trailer for my upcoming Amber Quill Press release June 7 - WORTH WAITING FOR.

I've tried a couple of times to make trailers and the hardest part is the music - I
can never find exactly what I want. But this song - Jules by Mark Cally- is perfect. I love it.

And I have to thank my husband for the two photographs of Santa Barbara, California.

I do not write porn
When my first book came out last fall, knowing it was pretty steamy content, I told my eighty-year old mother-in-law that if she wanted to buy it to support me that would be wonderful, but she should not read it. So that is what she did. I didn’t realize though that she gave it to my husband’s eight-five year old uncle to read. She had to print it off because he doesn’t even have a computer. Now I knew years back that Uncle D read Harlequin romances – I thought it was kinda cute. If he thought my book was a sweet Harlequin he was in for a shock. His reaction (to my M IL, who passed it on to me yesterday) – this is pure porn.

Big sigh.

Then I was showing my new Sony Reader to my MIL, and she asked if I had one of my books in there. I have the one coming out tomorrow loaded in there, so I opened it to the cover, then showed her how the reader works – by pressing this button you turn the page. She would barely look at it, wouldn’t even touch it, in case some of the porn cooties jumped out at her or she saw a word that would sear her eyeballs.

To my family (who don’t read my blog, go to my website or even read my books): I DO NOT WRITE PORN.

Just to make me feel a little better this morning, I got a great review for DREAM GIRL
Between the Lines: WRDF Review of Dream Girl By Kelly Jamieson
I wish I could quote the whole thing but here’s a tidbit: “I’ve never had to write a review about I a book that I enjoyed so much.” And “Ms Jamieson has a wonderful way with words”. Thank you!
