Hot Jocks in July Blog Hop
Photobucket Welcome to the Hot Jocks Blog Tour! I'm giving away winner's choice of one of my "hockey books" - Breakaway, Faceoff, and One Man Advantage.

These books feature hot hockey player heroes - the Heller brothers, Jason, Tag, and Logan. They're connected stories that do stand alone, but if you haven't read them you might want to read them in order. You can find blurbs and excerpts and reviews of these books at my website.

I grew up watching hockey with my mom and my grandma (her mom) on television every Saturday night – Hockey Night in Canada. Strangely my dad wasn’t all that interested in hockey and used to nap on the couch during games. As a teenager, my first boyfriend played hockey and I used to go watch some of his games. He also liked to go to live games, and our local team was the Brandon Wheat Kings (yes, we lived on the prairies J). I remember sitting in the Keystone Centre watching the Wheat Kings while my boyfriend patiently explained what icing was, why they just gave a penalty and what made a play offside. I think I tried to be interested mostly because I wanted him to like me, but it somehow turned into a real love of the game!

When I started writing romance, I wanted to write a story with a hockey player hero, but hesitated because I kept hearing you shouldn’t write about heroes who are professional athletes. Athletes are big and muscular and strong. When they’re successful they’re confident, wealthy and famous. Are these heroic qualities?

Well, big muscles and a sexy smile are important for a romance hero, but qualities of determination, passion, loyalty, dedication, sacrifice and courage are important for heroes too. And don’t professional athletes have all those?

What athlete romance heroes have you fallen in love with?

With Love Valentine's Day Blog Hop

Welcome to the With Love Valentine's Day Blog Hop! I'm celebrating my Valentine's Day release of Rule of Three. Yes, it comes out February 14, a very nice Valentine's present for me! And for the blog hop I'm giving away a download of Rule of Three, so leave a comment if you'd like to enter!

My husband will be working on Valentine's Day  - he's the photographer for the Winnipeg Jets, our NHL team, and it's game night, so we won't be having a romantic dinner for two that night. But we are planning an overnight getaway with a couples massage and dinner out next weekend, which I'm quite excited about!

Spicing it up for Valentine's Day

From Romantic Moods, here are some tips to spice up your love life:
Try role playing…
Meet at a bar and pretend to be strangers… The excitement will be flowing in no time…
Fool around but don’t have sex…
Remember high school, when you’d make out for hours and never even take off your clothes? NOT having sex can be a huge turn on. (Kelly says: I *highly* recommend this one!)
Try an evening of finger foods…
Feeding each other gooey, messy, bites can be incredibly erotic…
Watch a dirty movie…
Either it will turn you on, or give you a great shared laugh.(Kelly says: Or read a sexy romance!! Maybe one of mine!)
Share the fantasy night…
Whisper your fantasy in his ear in public and let him stew in the thought until you get home. Have the stage set.
Send flirty texts..
In the hours before your date – by dinner, the anticipation will be driving you crazy.
Try something you never have before…
Whether it be a public place, bondage, or blind folds, it will bring a whole new dimension to your lovemaking.
Start with you nude in your heels…
Have him to put your garter belt and hose on you,  again you might not get past one leg.
Wear sexy underwear…
That you know your mate will love – it will be an extra special gift as he unwraps his “present”.
Let your date pick from a grab bag of coupons…
For different sex acts from a sensuous massage to intercourse in the room of his choice.
Mix it up and do it in a different room.
Sometimes a little variety can easily be found just by mixing up a small aspect of your lovemaking. A change of scenery certainly fits the bill. Get creative with places you can try such as stairs, the bathtub or shower, a guest room or even the living room.

Leave a comment with your favourite tip above or one of your own to be entered to win a copy of Rule of Three!

To further warm up your Valentine's Day, here's a little excerpt from Rule of Three:

Kassidy awoke in the morning to a feeling of heavy heat, surrounded by two men in the king-size bed.
Oh dear god. She was in bed with two men.
What had they done?
She squeezed her eyes closed and her body tensed as if trying to shrink away from the two male naked bodies on either side of her. Images ran through her mind, reliving highlights of last night, and she almost groaned aloud.
She searched inside herself for her feelings about all this, trying to figure them out. Because she had a lot of feelings and they were all tangled up into a mass inside her and indecipherable. She guessed that was called confusion.
There was no denying the arousal that lingered, low down in her womb, an insistent throb that couldn’t possibly mean she wanted more sex. Could it? Holy crap. She’d had three orgasms last night by the time they fell asleep and that was a first. Her body tingled at the thought.
Chris. Oh god, Chris. Terror at what he might be feeling today gripped her and stole her breath. But as she went over things in her mind, she knew he’d wanted to do it too. Unless her memory was playing tricks on her, she didn’t think it was a case of him being pushed to do something he didn’t want. Truly, he’d made her feel strong and special and amazing for doing that. She’d seen no signs of jealousy, just…arousal.
If she’d done anything that would hurt Chris, she didn’t think she could survive it. If he woke up and was upset about this, she was going to die. She couldn’t shake the vague guilty feeling that she’d cheated on him with his best friend. Except he’d been right there, participating. She pressed a hand to her stomach, quivering with nerves.
And with even more guilt, she had to admit she’d enjoyed every minute of it. Which was also freaking her out a bit.
What did that say about her, the fact that she’d enjoyed it so much? The pleasure of having two men focus all their attention on her, telling her how beautiful she was, how hot, how sexy, knowing they couldn’t keep their hands off her, knowing when they got inside her they came so fast and hard there was no question that she’d aroused them.
That was about the hottest thing of all.

An amazing contest!
My critique partner and super talented author Nara Malone has a unique contest she's holding at her blog to introduce more people to the wonder of virtual worlds. Nara says: "Inner space is the true final frontier, and the Internet is an amazing example of what can happen when we use technology to facilitate a meeting of creative minds. Virtual worlds are shared inner space, a creative collective’s vision made real in a way that allows one person to walk through another’s dream, to interact with it, to reshape it into a new vision. I’ve spent weeks constructing worlds that will be easy for beginners to navigate and fun for them to explore."

Six Weeks!

Six Worlds to Explore!

Six Ways to Win!

Each week players will have multiple activities to engage in to earn points. These could be as simple as earning points for tweets or comments, or as challenging as finding hidden items in a virtual world. At the end of each week everyone who has obtained the minimum level of points for that week’s prize will be entered in the weekly drawing.

Week One: The first week is easy. You only need to enter the contest to get into that drawing. The prize is a $10.00 gift card (winners choice of Amazon or B&N).

Weeks Two- Six will present contestants with new challenges and new ways to earn points each week. Each Thursday I’ll count up points earned for the week and draw the winner for a gift card. Value of the gift card goes up each week. On the sixth week, every contestant with a score of 1000 points or more will be entered into the drawing for a NookColor.

You’ll need a Facebook account to play along, so if you don’t have one, get signed up.Nara will be posting daily contest detail updates at www.naramalone.com leading up to launch day so check there for more.

Here's a video Nara made as a preview of the first world being explored:

WIPs and Chains
Before I talk about my WIP I'm thrilled to announce that my book LOST AND FOUND is a finalist in the Passionate Plume!  Yay! Congrats to all the other awesome finalists!

I'm feeling great about my WIP this week because IT'S FINISHED! Well, first draft anyway. Although my first drafts are lot less rough (is that good grammar?) than they used to be, I do a lot more editing as I go than I did when I first started writing. Not sure if that's good or bad. Anyway, it's a 40,000 word novella and it was fun to write something short again and get that quicker gratification. But as with most of my recent projects, I felt this one could have been a lot longer. I could have taken more time to explore different facets of my characters' personalities and their problems. But I planned this to be a novella for a specific call for submissions, so it had to be short.

Now I'm off to Los Angeles early Wednesday morning for the RT Booklovers Convention and I can feel relaxed with a completed manuscript just finished. If I have time to do a little work, I can edit and revise and polish, which is much easiser to do when I just have a few minutes here and there than actual writing.

Spring Showers!

If any of you haven't heard about this incredible event, Coffeetime is having a big Samhain celebration at their forum, with tons and tons of excerpts and prizes.

My excerpt from 2 Hot 2 Handle is up this week.  To win, all you have to do is comment on it, or any of the excerpts (and you get to check out lots and lots of great books).

http://www.coffeetimeromance.com/board/showthread.php?p=119484#post119484

Here's a bit about the rules:

"For each excerpt you comment on you will receive one entry up to a maximum of one entry per excerpt. To make things even more wonderful, since we authors love you soooo much, each entry you get will carry over until the end of the promo in five weeks time. Meaning, you can accumulate simply tons of entries into the last and splenderifically fantasticus final prize draw, and the Star Prize of three ebook downloads of your choice from Samhain Publishing.

Basically, the more excerpts you comment on over the next four weeks, the more chances you have to win.

Can you win more than once? Yep, you bet your little cookies you can. We don't toss your cookies, uhm, entries just because you’ve won. And if you can't comment on an excerpt for one week (like if you've died and had to come back as a lost spirit to enter) don't worry. You won't receive an entry for that week's prizes but the excerpts remain up for the run of the contest. That way you can comment on them at any time for the current weeks prizes."

RELEASE
Publisher: Berkley Heat
Genre: Contemporary
Release Date: February 2, 2010

His need for her was so absolute, he agreed to share her with another man in order to possess her.

Genny loved her husband Max, but something was missing—a sexual charge that was instead ignited by his business partner, Sean. He was ruggedly handsome, with a heart-stopping smile and a slow, sexy New Orleans drawl that made Genny weak. The more time they spent together, the stronger the attraction between them became and when her husband offered to share her with Sean for one intoxicating night, both Genny and Sean were too tempted to refuse.

That night in the company penthouse, Max and Sean showed Genny the heights of ecstasy. But it was Sean who scored her very spirit, and one-on-one, they were red hot. But as Genny learns, there’s a price to pay for such impulsive pleasure. What began as a night of forbidden desire spirals into a whirlpool of murder, sensual submission, secrets, and a scorching passion that threatens to consume everyone it touches.

Here's the awesome trailer:

Kelly: First I juast have to say, I can't wait to read this book! Tell us a little more about Release and how this story came to be.

Beth: Release started as a surprise phone call from my agent, who said that Berkley had a slot opening, and could I do an emergency proposal? I had this very sketchy idea: what would happen if three people shared an impulsive menage a trois one night, one of the lovers was murdered afterwards, and the remaining man and woman suspected each other of the murder? So from there, I added this whole plot that involved a private intelligence firm and two lovers who are madly in love being reunited after years of separation. Luckily, I have a good friend who is in military intelligence, and he gave me so much invaluable information about the world of espionage and spies. Release is a suspense, but it’s first and foremost a romance about two people who are crazy for each other but have been kept apart by circumstances, conspiracies and secrets. One night during a Chicago blizzard, they are thrown together again. All this incredible passion surfaces, but so does a dangerous threat.

Kelly: Man, I wish I got phone calls like that. :-) Beth, do you have a writing process?

Beth: I do. When I'm working on a deadline, I have a daily word count quota that I have to make. I'm pretty strict on myself about it. I write it down in a book and keep track.

Kelly: Describe the environment where you write. Do you try to create an atmosphere and does that change with different projects?

Beth: It’s embarrassing to admit, but I’m usually writing sitting up in bed with my laptop, surrounded by research books, articles and a dictionary. The atmosphere really doesn’t change much.

Kelly: Writing in bed is just full of awesome. One of the best things to do in bed, besides...okay, well...what’s coming next from you?

Beth: Well, Release is out on February 2. Then I have a new series starting at Samhain, a paranormal erotic romance, called Princes of the Underground. The first in the series is called Velvet Cataclysm, and I’m so excited to be doing my first vampire book. J In December, I have another book coming out from Berkley Heat called Explosive. Excited about it as well, as it’s a psychological suspense as well as being an erotic contemporary. That’s about it for me this year.

Kelly: That sounds great! Congratulations on the new release!

Beth: Thanks for featuring me at your blog, Kelly!

I'll draw the lucky winner of a download of Beth's book HOLIDAY BOUND tomorrow morning, so once again, leave a comment and check back Tuesday morning.

Guest blogger Saturday and a contest!

This weekend I’ll have a guest blogger – I think this is a first for me! Fellow author Diane Craver will be here to talk about how her stories are influenced by her life experiences. With six children, I’m sure Diane is a very busy lady and has lots of interesting life experiences that shape her writing. I’ll also have an excerpt of Diane’s release of Whitney in Charge, now available from Desert Breeze Publishing. And since this is part of Diane’s blog tour, leave a comment for a chance to win a prize! On August 15th, Diane will give away a free download of Whitney in Charge and a $5 GC to Amazon to one lucky commenter, randomly drawn from the comments during that week.
